Focus on Fluency™ leads students through five focuses:

Focus 1. Read Aloud presents narrated pictures from a nonfiction book suggests questions for students to keep in mind while reading The Students build background knowledge and are introduced to oral vocabulary are encouraged to read for comprehension

Focus 2. Practice Read Along presents pronunciation of any word in text offers spoken glossary for important words The Students hear the words they see in print see and hear definitions read aloud along with a narrator

Focus 3. Echo Reading Recording presents highlighted phrase-by-phrase narration prompts student to record the same phrase plays back student's recording repeats record/playback if necessary The Students record phrase-by-phrase listen to recording become familiar with recording and listening

Focus 4. Full Page Reading Recording presents highlighted text without narration provides a "start-over" control records student's reading The Students record highlighted text can interrupt, restart, and record as often as necessary can record and play back reading
